Agility Classes

All of the classes are instructed by club volunteers who draw on experience gained from training their own dogs.

Classes run from 6:30-7:45 p.m. Wednesday nights. (Bookings Essential)

Cost:- $100 for 10 weeks (Prepaid) Refund Policy

Duration:– Until graduation to Beginners Class.

Requirements:- Dogs must be at least 10 months of age. Once you have registered (Booking Form - Agility Wait List) the Booking officer will contact you with a start date.

Information – The instructors have identified some basic skills that are required prior to moving onto the Beginners class and these will be discussed with you at your first class. The amount of time spent in the class will be influenced by your dog’s age, existing skill-set, your willingness to participate in the training exercises, and when the next Beginners class is scheduled to start. Equipment and training exercises used in this class will be age-appropriate. The training will be looking to develop a confident dog that has a strong relationship with their handler through the use of reward-based training.

Duration:- Course runs for 10 weeks. Participants will be eligible to graduate to the Novice Class once they have achieved the pre-requisite skills required.

Requirements:- To enroll in this course your dog must be older than 12 months and have obtained the pre-requisite skills in Tadpoles class.

Information:- The 10-week Beginner Course will introduce additional obstacles and expand on the handling techniques you will have already started to develop during your time in Tadpoles.

Classes run from 6:30-7:45 p.m. Wednesday nights.

Duration:- Course runs for 10 weeks. Participants will be eligible to graduate to the Advanced Class once they have achieved the pre-requisite skills required.

Requirements:- Dogs 12 months and older who have graduated from the Beginners class (or similar).

Information:-  This course will introduce the remainder of the obstacles and focus on developing handling skills whilst sequencing obstacles.

Participants should aim to arrive in time to assist with set-up at approximately 30 min prior to class start time. Participants are also expected to assist with equipment pack up.

Cost:- $10.00 per class

Duration:- Ongoing

Requirements:- This class is for those who have completed the Beginners & Novice courses or for people who are already competing in Agility and whose dogs are able to successfully complete 8 weave poles and full height contact obstacles. Ideally, dogs will also be happy working on either side of the handler and have been exposed to all/most of the standard Agility obstacles.

Information:- This class will reinforce behaviours already learnt and teach advanced handling skills.

All classes require participants to be a member of TOADS before attending. Single TOADS membership is $30 whilst family membership is $40.

As per our insurance policy and on the advice of the body we are affiliated with- Agility Dog Association of Australia (ADAA)- Townsville Outdoor Agility Dog Sports (TOADS) cannot knowingly allow membership to restricted dog breeds or dogs that have been declared dangerous.

If you wish to join TOADS our membership form will contain the following clause:

I declare that none of the dogs currently registered in my name with TOADS are (in full or part) an:

  • American Pit Bull Terrier
  • Japanese Tosa
  • Argentine Fighting Dog
  • Brazilian Fighting dog and/or any other breed which may be deemed as a restricted dog.
  • Nor are any of the individual dogs(s) which have been deemed as dangerous dogs as defined in the Companion Animal Act 1988 (NSW) and/or defined in any other State, Territory or the Commonwealth of Australia equivalent Act.
